A deep tissue massage is unlike a relaxation massage. It focuses on chronic muscle tension, knots, and adhesions (painful, rigid tissue) to relieve pain, improve mobility, and break up scar tissue. Unlike relaxation massages, deep tissue work can be intense and cause temporary discomfort.
